Fashion and textile designer Luz Medina approached Ink + Mortar to create a logo for her clothing line. We created a custom hand-lettered logo for Eva Olympia, her line, and created tags with the backgrounds showcasing a peek of her hand-dyed textile designs.
A big thanks to Wordcamp Philly for having me speak on Saturday! I had such a great time sharing my experiences in Before You Quit Your Day Job. What a great day. We filmed the talk so I look forward to sharing it soon. In the meantime, you can find links to the slides here, for your viewing pleasure.
When I left my day job, I thought to myself “I’ll have so much more time when I’m full-time to work on my business!” But it wasn’t the case. With clients knocking at my door and trying to grow the business, there were a slew of things I wish I had done before I left my steady paycheck to make the transition easier. I’ve gathered my top 10 things to work on before you quit your job to follow your design or development solo career.
You can pick up your tickets at WordcampPhilly.com. I hope to see you there!
I had the pleasure of joining a panel of other Philadelphia designers to share what a day in the life is like for each of us at Girl Develop It Philly last week. What a great time!
It was fun for me to hear how other designers treat their day and because we all had different roles, we were able to share a big part of how we got there and where we’re headed. It was truly a great night!
I thought it’d be fun to share my slides and what a day in the life is like at Ink + Mortar. It varies daily based on meetings or deadlines, but overall this is how I work and find it easiest to get things done.
A big thank you to Suzie Nieman for putting the night together and asking me to be a part of it!
Alexis Siemons, owner of Teaspoons & Petals, approached us to create a new logo for her growing brand. Inspired by the softness of her style and her collection of vintage tea cups and tea canisters, we created a custom hand-lettered logo with gold details to match.
Still one of our favorite designs from our work with Terrain. All inked illustrations were created alongside the product photography and worked to help tell the “make-your-own-path” story.
Tis the season! Our studio holiday party was Friday and we opened our doors to family and friends to see the space, enjoy some cocktails and share some holiday cheer.
And it wouldn’t be a #16N3RDST party without a Tarot Card reader and metallic tattoos!
Happy Holidays from Ink + Mortar!
We were so thrilled to learn that Sian Richardson had added us to her new site The Change-Maker’s Collective last week! Her newly launched site houses her top picks for tools, photographers, developers, designers and resources for web wranglers and we’re honored to be a part of it!
Make sure you check out her resources, too! We’ve implemented Invision into all our web projects (has completely changed the game for our clients to understand how their site will look!) as well as use Stocksy for almost all our stock photography needs. She’s wrangled some great catches already and we’re excited to see new additions as she adds them!
We couldn’t be more excited to announce
the Build a Brilliant Brand class
is coming online in January!
This 5 week course is a do-it-yourself version of the design process I use with my clients, giving you access to how to start with a vision and bring it life, under budget and in only 5 weeks. We will cover inspiration boards, typography, logo development, basic website setups and building content.
We’ll be sharing many more details leading up to the launch in January, so sign up for our BBB email list and we’ll keep you informed (and send some discounts your way!)
