When Philadelphia-based seamstress and sewing blogger Maddie Flannigan of Madalynne was looking to re-vamp her website, we jumped at the chance to tackle her creative vision. Drawing from vintage sewing items and calligraphic details, we created a brand identity that embodied the her hand-made pieces and a website that would feature her other offerings including her photography, classes and blog.

ROAR for Good

We created an identity for ROAR for Good, a fashionable safety device that will change the way women protect themselves every day. Their name alone explains their powerful message to help women feel safe and “live boldly and freely every day.” We wanted women to feel proud to own the device and create a luxe and bold feel for the brand, to match the strong women who would be wearing it.

Inspired by the alert the device makes when activated in the event of an attack, we conceptualized sound waves into 3D forms, creating shapes that were unique as the person wearing the device. These shapes became the foundation for our identity, the logo on top slightly deteriorated to show the worn nature of assault.

August is here and Fall is just around the corner! To kick-off this upcoming school year, we thought it was time we all went back to school, even just for a little while. Ink + Mortar is proud to present a collection of curated classes to help build your brand and your business. We’ve partnered with a selection of Philadelphia experts to host classes in our Old City studio, to share their knowledge in taking your business to the next level this fall.

It’s here! I’m sharing the video from Wordcamp Philly 2015 about the top 10 things I wish I had done before quitting my day job. These steps helped me jump into freelance life and hopefully they will help you as well. And a big thank you to Andrew Gormley for filming me that day. I hope you enjoy!

A highlight of some of the favorite emails for BHLDN we created. The play of their custom font and the gorgeous new products put the perfect combination to entice the newly released sale items.
